On The Brink Of Burnout

A Constant Grind

I am obsessed. Obsessed with the fact that I am not where I want to be, yet. This realization slowly eats me away because I work tirelessly day in and day out but I am still so far away from my ambitious life goals.
It’s true, I am one of those people so driven that I am willing to live off of 4-5 hours of sleep every night in an attempt to get ahead. But honestly, I can’t do it anymore. I am on the brink of burnout and I am just holding on (figuratively and literally). I seriously need to take a break because if I don’t stop this madness I am going to hit the wall.

The Plateau of Productivity

Have you ever experienced burnout from constant work and no rest? Trust me, I have been there before and I can tell you it’s not fun. It is both mentally and physically exhausting and recovering from mental burnout always takes a toll on your productivity. So basically, all of those additional hours of hard work that led you to the state of burnout will be meaningless if you have to spend the same amount of time recovering.
So I am taking it upon myself to focus all of my energy in the foreseeable future on practicing patience. I need to practice patience in regards to achieving my goals, understanding the importance of rest and managing my schedule. Honestly, it isn’t a matter of being “realistic” but when an obsession becomes too great and unhealthy, the negative habits that you developed along the way will start to catch up to you. Slowly but surely a negative habit like sleep deprivation will plateau your productivity and performance. So even though you were once a productivity juggernaut you will eventually reach a cul de sac forcing you to take an abrupt stop and rest.

Patience and Consistency

When it comes to practicing patience, I enjoy watching videos by Gary Vaynerchuk to remind myself about the power of patience. He always preaches that patience is one of the keys to success and it takes years of consistent hard work to produce exponential results. So if you are trying to practice patience in your life too, watch “The one word that built my success” by Gary Vaynerchuk.

  1. Honestly, I feel you there on the burnout factor myself I have been exhausted lately and never feeling like you are getting to reach your goals is emotionally draining. I have been working on finding the balance of not doing it all and learning to set boundaries and smaller more attainable goals. Good luck with accomplishing your goals.

  2. This post really hits home. Today’s world is so hectic and stressful, so it’s more important than ever to find balance between work and play. We all need to set aside time to do something for the sheer enjoyment and relaxation of it.

  3. I can totally relate to this. Whenever I am on the brink of burning myself out, I take a step back from everything and do something that makes me happy. Plus I always remember to get a good nights sleep. I always feel rejuvenated and ready to tackle my ever so many challenges ahead.

  4. I feel this on a near spiritual level. I have to spend time to take breaks or my work wont be as passionate or even worth reading. Once I’m refreshed, I’m ready to take on tasks again with energy.
